About Us...

Sigma Training has been a key component within the Sigma Group for 20 years. Historically IT focused, we would provide system training to our clients, as a result of an IT upgrade or the implementation of a new software system. Over recent years however we have offered other additional IT related training, in for example, tutor led courses in Microsoft Office and a range of soft skill training. The latest development has been the award of Microsoft's 'Academy Status', in recognition over our achievement in providing training in Microsoft products.

The best way to improve your job and earning prospects is to equip yourself with recognised skills and qualifications - and nothing beats the Pitman Training system for helping you learn successfully. Whether you take a single course on one subject or a more comprehensive diploma covering a range of related topics, our step-by-step approach lets you learn in a proven, logical way. Most of our courses take place in a Pitman Training Centre - there are more than 80 to choose from around the country - using our unique workbook and accompanying computer software. We also run on-line training for those who prefer to learn from home or workplace via the internet.

Training Centre Courses

Learning new skills is easy with Pitman Training. Our tried and trusted methods are the best available and are designed for speedy results. You work at your own pace in our comfortable premises, helped by experienced tutors as required. It's relaxed, non-competitive and free from outside distractions. You choose your own hours, working when it suits you. Our centre in Jersey is open all day Monday to Friday as well as some evenings and Saturday mornings, according to demand.

As a guide, a course usually takes between 14 and 20 hours in total, depending on the subject. You can work a little and often or spend longer sessions if you prefer - whatever suits your schedule. On completion, you will have a recognised Pitman Training Certificate to prove it (if you complete the exam at a Pitman Training centre) as well as your personalised workbook as a valuable reference guide.

On-line Training

Our on-line courses work in the same way, but without the tutor in the same room! Your workbook guides you through, one chapter at a time, and the subject is brought to life on your computer screen, accessed through your internet dial-up.

Instructor Led Seminars

Our training centre provide seminars on a range of IT (for example Word) and Business Skills (for example Meetings and Minutes) courses. These one - two day courses are usually held at our fully equipped St Helier training centre and led by an experienced course trainer. They are ideal to boost your skills or fill any gaps in your knowledge - giving you the confidence to get that new job or promotion.

IT Technical

IT Technical training is advancing each and every year and Pitman Training offers a great selection of courses. Easy to buy, easy to learn and enjoyable. If you are looking to get into the IT world or need skills to enhance your career opportunities these courses are your best route to success.

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

The European Computer Driving Licence (or ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification for computer users everywhere. It is particularly useful for people new to the Channel Islands, dramatically improving your chances of getting the job you really want. Through it you will gain the confidence, basic skills and knowledge to use computers and a wide range of common IT software packages. What's more you don't need any prior IT knowledge or experience to do it.
